Poetry constantly surprises the reader AND the poet. I know that when I begin writing a poem, I’m not even sure why, and then when I’m finished with it, I’m shocked/awed/flabbergasted/petrified/delighted/ etc. What about you?
So true! My writing takes me to some really wonderful places and I’m never sure where I’ll end up when it’s through. :)
